About the role
We're looking for a hands-on PC and network technician who enjoys fixing things the right way and leaving people happier than they found them. You'll be the face of CarolinaTechs in our clients' homes and offices across Indian Land, Waxhaw, Monroe, and Matthews.
A typical week mixes onsite visits and remote sessions: diagnosing slow or broken computers, cleaning up malware, setting up new workstations, fixing Wi-Fi dead spots, configuring routers and firewalls, and helping small offices with printers, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and VoIP phones.
What you'll do
- Diagnose and repair Windows and macOS desktops and laptops — hardware, OS, drivers, and software issues
- Remove malware, harden endpoints, and set up backups and antivirus/EDR
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot home and small-business networks: routers, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and mesh systems (Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link Omada, and similar)
- Set up new PCs, migrate data, and onboard/offboard users in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Entra ID / Azure
- Support printers, scanners, VoIP phones, and NAS/servers at small offices
- Provide remote support by phone and remote-access tools, and escalate when needed
- Document every visit clearly in our ticketing system and keep clients updated
- Recommend practical upgrades and explain options and pricing honestly
Required qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on PC repair and/or help-desk/field-service experience (or equivalent training plus a strong home-lab portfolio)
- Solid knowledge of Windows 10/11; comfort with macOS
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, VLANs, and Wi-Fi fundamentals
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in attics, under desks, and in tight spaces
- Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check — you'll be in clients' homes and businesses
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Friendly, clear communicator who can explain technical issues in plain English
Nice to have
- CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+
- Ubiquiti (UEWA/UBWA), Cisco CCNA/CCST, or Fortinet NSE certifications
- Microsoft 365 / Azure (MS-900, MD-102, AZ-900) or Google Workspace admin experience
- Experience with RMM/PSA tools and remote-access platforms
- Basic structured cabling — terminating and testing Cat6
- Familiarity with VoIP phones and small-business servers
